Cyber security alert: Meltdown & Spectre

Jan 29, 2018 | Technology News

You may have already heard of Meltdown and Spectre, but we feel it is our duty to inform you.

Meltdown and Spectre are the names of two serious security flaws that have been found within computer processors.

They could allow hackers to steal sensitive data without users knowing.

Meltdown is “probably one of the worst CPU bugs ever found”.

Spectre, on the other hand, is harder for hackers to take advantage of but is also more difficult to fix and is expected to be a bigger problem in the long term.

Practically every computing device is affected by Spectre, including laptops, desktops, tablets, smartphones and even cloud computing systems.

While there are issues with the patches that have been released, there are other recommended security measures to take.
